Yonomi recognized as breakthrough IoT development tool

BOULDER — Yonomi, an IoT platform that integrates smart home devices, was recognized as the “IoT Development Tool of the Year” by the IoT Breakthrough Awards.

The IoT Breakthrough Awards recognize a select list of the top IoT companies and technologies. Yonomi is among names such as Sony, GE Appliances, Dell and Samsung.

The Boulder-based IoT company provides turnkey software solutions for consumer IoT devices. Companies such as Schlage and Gentex have used Yonomi for lightweight, rapidly scalable platforms to connect smart home devices to the cloud.

“It’s an honor to be recognized and have our name on the list with some pretty exciting other companies,” CEO Kent Dickson told BizWest. “It’s great recognition of the impact we’re having in our industry.”

Although IoT is still an emerging industry, Dickson said it is rapidly becoming more mainstream every day, with the prevalence of Alexa and Google Home and other connected home features.

“That’s where we play and what we’re trying to affect: the user experience and creating successful business models for that [space],” he said. “Being on the list with other great companies impacting it is a great honor for us and a great way to kick off 2019.”

Looking ahead, Dickson said he expects a major growth year for Yonomi — and the company is currently hiring to support that growth. The company has more than 500,000 users on its platform and it plans to continue its partnerships to grow that user base. Yonomi is also looking at a few new key partnerships in other fields, like automotive and telecom.

“We think we’re poised to continue to gain more traction,” he said.
